Easwari Rao, born June 13, 1973, in Tanuku, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, India, is an Indian actress and producer known for her work in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada cinema. Born to a Telugu Hindu family of the Kamma caste, her mother is Prabhavathy Amma, and she has five siblings: three brothers (a teacher in Rajahmundry, a banker in the UAE, and one in Hyderabad) and two sisters (a teacher and an interior designer). She completed her education in Rajahmundry and settled in Chennai. A trained Kuchipudi dancer, she enjoys cooking and reading.
Easwari debuted in Telugu with Intinta Deepavali (1990) and in Tamil with Kavithai Paadum Alaigal (1990, credited as Janani), which was not released theatrically. She used stage names like Vijayashree (Megha Maale, 1994, Kannada) and Vyjayanti (Rambantu, 1995, Telugu). Her breakthrough came with Raman Abdullah (1997, Tamil) directed by Balu Mahendra, and she gained prominence in Telugu with Rambantu (1996) opposite Rajendra Prasad.
